Hakan trained as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in England. He has played in BBC Radio 4 plays, appeared in various TV commercials, international television and film projects in Istanbul and London. In addition to his acting career, he also translate plays which have been staged in both private and subsidised public theatres in Turkey including Istanbul State Theatre.
As a cultural operator; he is a member of The Fence theatre network and he is the coordinator of Turkish committee in Eurodram which is Europe's largest drama translation network. He has given talks about Turkish Theatre in various international theatre schools. He has been a member of prestigious Yapi Kredi Afife Jale Theatre Jury since 2012-2013 theatre season. Hakan is a global fellow at International Society of Performing Arts (ISPA) in 2016 and 2017.
